Frequently asked questions

Here are the details people usually want to know before putting a PingOwner tag on something they care about.

Does a finder need the PingOwner app?

No. A phone camera can scan the QR code and open the tag page in a browser. The finder does not need an account or a special app.

What happens when someone scans my tag?

They see the contact options you have made available and can send you a message. Your phone number and email are not printed on the sticker or shown unless you choose to share them.

How do I activate a sticker?

Sign in to your PingOwner account, open the activation flow, and enter the code printed on the sticker. Add a useful item label so you can recognize it later.

Can I use one tag on more than one item?

A tag is meant to identify one item at a time. If the item changes, update the label in your dashboard so a finder receives accurate information.

What should I put in the item label?

Keep it short and recognizable, such as “black Honda CD70,” “Sam’s school bag,” or “blue camera case.” Avoid adding your home address.

Will PingOwner locate my item on a map?

No. PingOwner is a contact bridge, not a GPS tracker. A finder must scan the sticker and choose to send a message.

Can I stop notifications?

Yes. You can manage notification preferences from your account. The tag can remain active even when a particular notification method is turned off.

What if my sticker is damaged?

Contact support with your order or tag details. We can help you check the tag status and explain the replacement options available for your situation.
